Lake of Egypt offers a unique lifestyle that blends recreation, relaxation, and community—right here in the heart of Southern Illinois.
In the video above, Melissa Plant, a trusted agent with Coldwell Banker J. David Thompson Realty, highlights some of the best that Lake of Egypt has to offer. From boating and golfing to dining, music, and more, it's easy to see why so many people are drawn to this beautiful area.
Start with the Lake of Egypt Country Club, where a scenic 9-hole golf course gives residents and visitors a peaceful place to unwind. Whether you’re practicing your swing or just enjoying time outdoors, it’s a local gem with a relaxed and welcoming vibe.
The lake itself features three main marinas, each offering something special:
Pyramid Acres is one of the most vibrant spots on the water, with covered and uncovered dock rentals, fuel service, and free docking for restaurant guests. You’ll find a casual dining experience by day, bar favorites and live music in the evenings, and even fishing tournaments throughout the season.
Mack’s Marina is another favorite, offering boating supplies, dock space, and a boat ramp—with fuel service coming soon. It’s also home to the Cross-eyed Bear, a laid-back restaurant and music venue that’s perfect for lakefront dining and entertainment.
Egyptian Hills Marina is a full-fledged destination with a restaurant, floating inflatable waterpark, campground, and even a venue for weddings and special events. It’s a great option for families or anyone looking to turn their lake visit into a full experience.
Just beyond the shoreline, you’ll find local spots that bring even more character to the area. Just Add Water is a community-focused bait shop and bar known for hosting live music, dart leagues, cornhole tournaments, and food truck nights. Meanwhile, Lake of Egypt Docks is a trusted name for dock service—and their new showroom is coming soon.
For boats and lake toys, Mack’s Motor Sports offers sales, service, and everything you need for a perfect day on the water.

Need a bite to eat? Try Triple E BBQ for smoked meats, Sweet Things Ice Cream & Sandwich Shop for a quick treat, or stop by Oasis Liquor Store to stock up for the weekend.
If you're interested in fitness, check out Lake of Egypt Fitness, which offers weights, group classes, and even pickleball courts on the way. And when you want to explore more of the region, nearby towns like Marion, Goreville, and Creal Springs are just minutes away—with Paducah, Kentucky less than an hour’s drive.
